CERTIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND of DONNA MITCHELL, C.M.T.

I graduated with an A average from HUMANITIES CENTER, in St. Petersburg, FL with 650 hours. I passed the State Board, and was licensed by the DEPARTMENT OF PROFESSIONAL REGULATION, Board of Massage, for fourteen years. I currently have fourteen years of continuing education credits, some of which are: Myo-fascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Kinesiology, and Neuromuscular.

Humanities offered, as extra options, different Advanced Massage classes. One of these was STRUCTURAL MASSAGE, developed and taught by Lowell Isles for several years. I became certified, and this highly specialized massage became my life work. I now teach classes that are open to the public.

Working full time in a Licensed State gave me the opportunity to use Structural work with a variety of Medical Doctors including Neurologist’s, Orthopedic, and Osteopathic. I also worked with Physical Therapists and Chiropractor’s. This enabled me to treat and learn from patients with very serious acute and chronic injuries and diseases. I had to learn how to adjust my treatment to the special needs of the patient; I developed a deep understanding and sensitivity to the muscles and joints problems in the human body. I have successfully treated (by relief of pain and increased flexibility) for extended periods of time: amputees, epileptics, severe diabetics, people with severe Fibromyalgia, plus many with severe sciatic (of over 20 years!) arthritis, migraines, and many others.

Since Florida is a very popular State for Athletes of every sport, I also became adept in treating Professional and Amateur athletes in: Golf, Football, Hockey, Marathon Runners, Bikers, and Tennis players. I worked with members of the W.W.T.A. (Women’s World Class Tennis Association) for over two years.

I have also worked on many pregnant women for their full-term, and taught them how to massage their infants. Please look to this site for future teaching Video’s on “Structural for Pregnant Women and Infants”.
